Thongchai Sukkoki, a FIFA Class B License coach has been named to lead BG Pathum United beginning with the forthcoming league and the upcoming match against Chonburi FC, who are currently in sixth position.
Supachai Komsilp, the interim coach in place since March 19th, 2023, will be replaced by Thongchai Sukkoki. The 49-year-old former goalie for the Thai National Team appears to be the right match for the Rabbits.
“My first goal with the team is to test out my football philosophy with quality players and see whether we could find the right mix and see how successful we can be,” stated the new gaffer.
Thongchai Sukkoki has previously worked for Nakhon Pathom United, Chula Sinthana, Debsirin School, Singhtarua FC, Ayutthaya FC, Prachuap FC, Khon Kean FC, Customs United, and Lamphun Warriors.
“My priority and main target upon accepting this job is to guide the team to success and bring more silverware to the club,” he added.
The coach assisted Nakhon Pathom United in winning the Thai League 4 championship in 2018. Nakhon Pathom was then promoted to the Thai League 2 in 2019 and then came to be crowned champions of the Thai League 2 2022–2023 to advance to the Thai League 1.
BG Pathum United has 1 Thai League Title from the 2020/2021 season and with the introduction of Thongchai Sukkoki as head coach, more managerial wealth will be added to the club aimed towards more titles. However, the Rabbits have quite a number of trophies in their cabinet including, the 2010 SINGAPURIAN CUP, the 2019 THAI SECOND LEAGUE, the 2021 & 2022 THAILAND CHAMPIONS CUP, the 2009/2010 THAI QUEEN’S CUP, and the 2014 THAI CUP.
