On April 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Bangkok Arena, the final round of the “AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2024” saw the Thai national team take on Iran.
In this match, Miguel Rodrigo, the Spanish coach of the Thai national team, fielded the starting lineup comprising Arus Senbaat as the goalkeeper, Krit Aranyasanyalak, Jirawat Sonwichian as the team captain, Panat Som Kittiphanuwong, and Suphawut Thueanklang.
The game commenced with Iran taking the lead within the first minute, courtesy of a goal by Mahdi Karimi.
By the 6th minute, Iran doubled their advantage to 2-0, with Said Ahmad Abbasi delivering a cross.
Despite Thailand’s relentless attempts to attack, they failed to breach Iran’s defense, resulting in a 2-0 halftime lead for Iran.
In the 26th minute of the second half, Thailand managed to score a goal, narrowing Iran’s lead to 1-2 following Jirawat Sonwichian’s shot.
However, Iran swiftly responded in the 27th minute with Aliashhar Hassanzadeh scoring from a corner kick, extending their lead to 3-1.
With 35 minutes elapsed in the match and during Thailand’s power play, Bakher Mohammadi capitalized on a chance, increasing Iran’s lead to 4-1.
No further goals were scored for the remainder of the game. Thailand’s 1-4 loss to Iran secured Thailand the runner-up position in Asia for the third time, while Iran claimed the championship for the 13th time.
